What type of skin do I have (and which products should I use for it)?
What are some general "rules of thumb" that apply to ALL skin types?
What about other areas such as eyes, bust, and cellulite build-up?
IMPORTANT SKIN ALERTS !!
Naturally, we'd love to sell you some of our exquisite skin care products, but first we'd like to make sure that you and your skin remain healthy! Toward that end, we present these free skin health alerts on the vitally important subjects of skin cancer and general skin care, as well as links to additional related information. (And if you think this free information is helpful, just wait until you try some of our products!)
SKIN CANCER RISK FACTORS: Are you regularly exposed to the sun? Are there days when you're outdoors and DON'T wear sunscreen? Do you have sensitive or fair skin (and burn easily in a short period of time)? Do you have many moles (20 or more), or several large ones (5 mm or more)?
Answering yes to any of these questions may indeed put you at a greater risk of developing a skin cancer, although there are MANY other factors that affect your risk. You should also consider whether there's any family history for skin cancers; your age (cancers tend to increase the older you get); your skin type (blondes and redheads with blue eyes are more prone); other health problems which may affect your immune system; and the geographical area you live in (tropical or subtropical climates can increase one's daily sun exposure).
The most immediate precautions to take are:
1. Check regularly for suspicious moles or other changes in your skin (and don't forget the areas that are difficult to examine like your back or the backs of your upper arms). You can view a color scan of what to look for, as well as learn additional information about skin cancer, by clicking here (compliments of the American Cancer Society).
2. ALWAYS wear sunscreen when outdoors during the day (one that blocks both UV-A and UV-B rays and is at least SPF 15+). Even if you're in the shade! Even if you don't think you'll be exposed to the sun!
3. Be especially careful to check regularly and follow "zero-tolerance" sun-blocking techniques (sunscreen and clothing/hats) if any of the risk factors mentioned are present.
HOW TO MAKE YOUR SKIN HEALTHIER
AND LOOK AND FEEL BETTER FOR FREE!Before worrying about skin care products, there are certain things you can do each day to your skin FOR FREE that will do wonders if you keep a disciplined regiment. And you will see results almost immediately:
1. Keep your skin clean
Use a non-abrasive cleanser (preferably one of ours, but at least use one that doesn't contain soap or abrasives and includes moisturizing agents). Clean your face at least 3 times a day - morning, midday, and at bedtime.
2. Always keep your skin moisturized
After cleaning, although "toning" helps immensely (discussed further in our FAQ section), at least be sure to apply a good moisturizer.
3. Drink LOTS of water
Don't underestimate the effects that proper "hydration" has on the look and feel of your skin! Try to drink 8 glasses of water a day and you'll see a big difference in no time!
4. Always Use Sunscreen When Outdoors During the Day
As already discussed in the previous Skin Cancer section, the sun is your skin's NUMBER ONE ENEMY. Period. In fact, some estimates say that up to 90% of "aging" (read that "wrinkly") skin is the result of sun-related damage! Either stay completely out of the sun or ALWAYS use sunscreen!
What type of skin do I have (and which products should I use for it)?
Dry Skin:
How to Recognize: Dry skin, also known as premature skin, "ages" a person faster than virtually any other. Although the natural aging process definitely contributes to this condition, harsh environmental factors -- such as sun, wind and dry-air exposure -- play significant aggravating roles!
Dry skin usually shows up first around your cheeks. These areas tend to feel tight and flaky to the touch and may be slightly redder than the rest of the face (ironically, this "redness" is often mistaken for a "healthy glow").
What to Use: Correcting this condition requires careful attention since dry skin is extremely sensitive to any form of exposure. We strongly suggest using only products that are extremely hypo-allergenic, non-comedogenic (so pores remain clear) AND rich in vital nutrients (since dry skin is actually nothing more than an absence of these vital nutrients).
As with ALL skin conditions, a thorough cleansing is the first line of defense. For this we recommend HERBAL FOAM CLEANSER [1], followed by HERBAL TONER [2]. While the cleanser gently cleans, hydrates and clarifies the skin without drying it, the toner stimulates and refreshes. You will be amazed how good your skin looks and feels after just these initial steps!!
Once or twice a week, all skin types should also use one of several available "micro-liposome" products. Micro-liposomes act to seal AND repair basic skin damage and act as an "anti-wrinkle" agent. For those with conditions other than oily skin (see below), we suggest G.S. GINKGOSOME [13] -- the perfect daytime anti-wrinkle product.
Every other day or every day, we also highly recommend FLAWLESS SKIN FLUID™ [24] to hydrate the skin while giving a flawless look. Uneven skin tone caused by age spots and pigmentation is an issue for everyone. This lightweight fluid smoothens and evens your skin the natural way. Helps to reduce patches of discolored skin by brightening the skin and restoring clarity and a radiant youthful glow - a flawless look in any light. Protects against free radicals. Use in the morning after cleansing, Toning and Ginkgosome before applying your make up. Can also be used for all skin types.
Lastly (and perhaps most importantly), dry skin requires constant moisturizers to keep it soft and smooth. The best products for such dry skin conditions are ROSACEA ALPHASOMES C-8™ [28] and SUPER REPAIR CoQ10 MOIST [29]. These not only moisturize but also replenish the skin with many of the vital nutrients otherwise missing. They also help re-build the skin's cell structure.
"Combination" Skin:
How to Recognize: This is the most common skin condition and is characterized (usually) by oily skin around the "T" zone (forehead and nose) but much drier skin around the cheeks (although for a very small minority it can be just the opposite). Visually, your nose may appear "shiny" but the other areas of your face may be dull or flaky.
What to Use: Before anything else, every skin type requires a thoroughly cleansing, using such products as SOFT DEEP FOAM CLEANSE [10] and HERBAL TONER [2], as described in the Dry Skin section.
Once your face is clean, regular daytime use of an anti-wrinkle agent (such as the micro-liposome formula -- G.S. GINKGOSOME [13]), followed by nighttime application of an anti-oxidant (such as C.S. CITROSOME [14]), will vastly improve your skin's tone and texture. (And don't be surprised to see almost immediate results!)
And always remember... these products can only do their jobs if you seal them in with a good moisturizer -- such as CELL RENEWAL DAY CREAM [3] during the day and GINKGO MOIST with AHA [5] at night.
And about once a week, apply GINKGO MASK [6] to help restore the skin's vitality and energy by maintaining its natural moisture balance.
Oily Skin:
How to Recognize: Usually appearing as an "orange-y" shine generalized around the face, enlarged pores may also be pronounced.
What to Use: Once again, before anything else ALWAYS CLEANSE YOUR FACE THOROUGHLY (preferably with SOFT DEEP FOAM CLEANSE [10] and DR.D.SCHWAB HERBAL TONER [2], as described in the Dry Skin section.
Then each evening use an anti-oxidant such as C.S. CITROSOME [14] to rejuvenate and hydrate your skin. The results will surprise you.
Then seal the active ingredients in gel form, preferably with a non-greasy, light moisturizer that imparts a smooth and silky feel to the skin. Dr.D.Scwab's patent-pending liposomal technology combined with Tea Tree, Rosmary and Cinnamon and enriched with protein helps to control and clear the skin for a healthier look, so use our DR.D.SCHWAB A CONTROLLING BALM w/TEA TREE OIL[11].
About twice a week, we recommend CONTROLLING HERBAL MASK [25], a deep-pore controlling and normalizing mask, with herbal extracts that refine the appearance of pores and balance the skin's oil secretions and moisture content.
Dehydrated-Mature Skin:
How to Recognize: The most common traits of this skin condition are (a) loss of skin elasticity, (b) extreme dryness and (c) an increase in noticeable fine lines.
What to Use: This skin condition requires the same initial cleansing process, followed by application of separate day and night anti-wrinkle agents, as is necessary for Combination Skin above.
For moisturizers however, we recommend more specialized ones such as CELL RENEWAL DAY CREAM [3] and CELL RENEAWAL NIGHT CREAM [4], which improve the skin's condition through a unique CELL REPAIR COMPLEX. And around the eyes, we suggest EYE INTENSIVE MOIST [22], a very light and highly moisturizing eye emollient for these delicate facial areas.
And for special problem areas, you'll enjoy using RETINOL REJUVENATE NIGHT CREAM [15] for younger, healthier looking skin.
And about once a week, apply GINKGO MASK [6] to help restore the skin's vitality and energy by maintaining its natural moisture balance.
Damaged Skin:
How to Recognize: This skin type can be best described as "dry" skin that just doesn't seem to get better no matter how much you moisturize it! It's usually the result of serious environmental damage caused by the sun or chemicals (certain peels or overuse of retin-A, for example).
What to Use: Damaged skin, as a form of dry skin, requires similar initial cleansing and toning (SENSITIVE CLEANSER [26] and HERBAL TONER [2]), followed by application of an anti-wrinkle agent (G.S. GINKGOSOME [13]).
These should be sealed in with a moisturizer such as AM/PM MOISTURIZER [8], a very fine, light and highly concentrated anti-inflammatory moisturizing agent.
And once the damaged skin has healed, you can continue the identical regimen used for Dehydrated-Mature Skin above!
Hormonal-Imbalanced Skin ("Stressed" Skin):
How to Recognize: Most would describe this skin type as "dull," unattractive and/or "tired" looking. Blame it on "life changes" (menopause, family stress, to name just two), there are many other emotions factors that cause such skin problems.
For this type of skin, we first recommend cleaning and refreshing with HERBAL FOAM CLEANSER [1] and HERBAL TONER [2]Once your face is clean, regular daytime use of an anti-wrinkle agent (such as the micro-liposome formula G.S GINKGOSOME [13]) (and at nighttime, C.S. CITROSOME [14]), will vastly improve your skin's tone and texture. What to Use:
Finally, application of SUPER REPAIR CoQ10 MOIST [29], with its patent-pending formula rich in liposomes, provides extra moisture-holding capacity while correcting, protecting and re-establishing cell regeneration.
For this particular type of skin condition we also highly recommend ROSACEA ALPHASOMES C-8™ [28]. Special patent-pending liposomes provide a moisture holding capacity to correct, protect, re-establish cell regeneration and promote a healing process of sensitivity. Apply before SUPER REPAIR CoQ10 MOIST [29], day and night.
What are some general "rules of thumb" that apply to ALL skin types?
It's very simple: (1) Keep your face and skin clean and moisturized at all times. (2) Drink lots of water. And (3) always wear sun block (PARASOL ULTRA HIGH PROTECTION [18]!
What about other areas such as eyes, and skin build-up?
Eyes:
For irritation caused by environmental pollution, fatigue, computer burn-out, post-surgical swelling, permanent eye-liner, long distance travel, or other such irritants, we recommend PUFF AWAY EYE GEL [19], a soothing, refreshing balm which reduces puffiness and combats such eye problems (followed with EYE INTENSIVE MOIST [22]).
For eye makeup removal, a specialized lotion -- such as AZULENE EYE MAKEUP REMOVER [20] -- should be used. This Camomile based lotion refreshes and relaxes while gently and thoroughly cleaning this delicate skin area.
Sun-Related Products:As previously mentioned (and emphasized!), we highly recommend always using a sunscreen whenever outdoors during the day. PARASOL ULTRA HIGH PROTECTION [18] is frankly the best available! It blocks BOTH UVA and UVB and provides vitamins and exotic herbal extracts to enhance the skin's natural protection while moisturizing and repelling water.
A new formulation, SHIMMERY SUN MILK [17], incorporates liposomes loaded with a combination of specially selected natural botanical ingredients suitable for sun-sensitive skin. When first applied, it appears "shimmery" on the skin, while providing a healthy glowing look. This product is ideal for:
- Sensitive and/or allergic skin types
- People concerned with wrinkles and sun damage
- Skin that easily burns
Specialized Treatments:
ANTI-AGING C-8™ SERUM [7]: A natural herbal serum, combined with our cell repair complex, provides a bio-stimulating effect. It also helps regenerate and balance the skin's elasticity and fight damage caused by the environment.
BAMBOO CREAM PEEL [21]: Using natural beads loaded with almond, vitamins and herbal extracts, this product helps eliminate dead cells and other impurities on the face and body, while gently smoothing and enriching the skin. Recommended for "dehydrated-mature" skin (not for oily skin).
GINKGO GOMMAGE [16]: To enhance overall skin smoothness and tone, this product's exfoliaton beads moisturize and rejuvenate combination and oily skin types through Aromatherapy and Phytotherapy. (Do not use on sensitive or mature skin.)
